What is Quest Mode in GunZ: The Duel?
Quest Mode is the co-op PvE side of GunZ: The Duel. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with friends (or randoms) to clear waves of monsters and face powerful bosses. It is the best way to earn XP, Battle Tokens, event currency, and exclusive Quest rewards while still practicing movement and combat.
While PvP and K-Style get most of the spotlight, Quest is where new accounts build their foundation quickly and where veterans farm efficiently during events.
How Quest Works
- You enter a Quest room with a party (recommended 2–4 players).
- Clear escalating waves of monsters.
- At the end of certain runs you face a boss encounter.
- Difficulty and rewards can be influenced by Quest items and party setup.
- Higher difficulties give significantly better XP, currency, and drop chances.
Recommended Loadouts for Quest
Duel loadouts are not always optimal for PvE. Here’s what works best:
- Best overall PvE: Rifle or SMG + Medkits + Sword
- Strong alternative: Shotgun + Rifle + Medkits
- Support / Safe play: Any sustained weapon + extra Medkits
Why this is different from duels:
- Sustained fire weapons (Rifles & SMGs) perform much better against large groups of monsters.
- Medkits are extremely valuable - item slots matter far more in Quest than in pure PvP.
- High ground and wall tech are still very strong. Many waves become easy when you hold positions monsters struggle to reach.
Difficulty Levels
| Difficulty | Enemy Strength | Rewards | Recommended Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | Base | Standard XP & currency | 1–20 |
| Hard | Noticeably stronger | Better XP and drops | 20–35 |
| Expert | Much higher health & damage | Highest rewards | 40+ |
Start on Normal until you understand the maps and boss patterns, then move up for better farming efficiency.
Boss Fight Basics
Bosses usually have clear attack patterns. Common types include:
- Frontal cone / sweep attacks – Dash sideways, never backward into the attack.
- Ground slam / shockwave – Jump or wall away at the right timing.
- Charge / lunge – Use wall-run or high ground to avoid.
- Add spawns – Designate one player to clear the smaller monsters while others focus the boss.
Party roles that work well:
- One player focuses on holding aggro / interrupting (sword or tanky melee)
- One or two players focus pure damage on the boss
- One player prioritizes clearing adds and reviving
Farming Tips for Efficient Progress
- Always play in a party when possible - rewards and clear speed are better.
- Use wall tech and high ground. Many Quest maps have strong vertical positions.
- Bring Medkits. Dying and waiting for a revive wastes more time than using a medkit early.
- During launch or seasonal events, Quest is one of the most relaxed ways to earn event currency while still practicing K-Style between waves.
- Learn the map layouts. Knowing spawn points and safe high-ground spots makes runs much smoother.
Quest vs Pure PvP – How to Balance Your Time
A smart progression path for most players:
- Do some Quest runs to level up and get better gear/currency.
- Spend time in Training Rooms or empty rooms drilling Butterfly, Slash Shot and Wall Cancel.
- Jump into real duel rooms to test what you practiced.
- Return to Quest when you want more relaxed farming or event progress.
Quest is not a replacement for learning K-Style - it is the place where you can level up and still improve your movement at the same time.
Final Advice
Quest Mode rewards both good mechanical skill and smart positioning. Players who only stand on the ground spraying will clear slower and die more. Players who use walls, high ground, and proper loadouts will farm much more efficiently.
Learn the patterns. Bring Medkits. Control the high ground. Clear faster. Progress faster.
